O, former Asia Foundation senior officer, current consultant to the World Bank, short haired, very funny, no nonsense, keeps her cigarettes and lighter in a red leather case. We meet at the Irish Pub. She is nonplussed at Buddhism, which pervades here. I have been getting into yoga in my old age, she tells me. Though Buddhism, I am still suspicious of it. It’s quite the way to keep a population submissive, isn’t it. Meditate! In other words, do nothing. Keeps the population complacent.
